Notes for proposers and seconders

The below guidance provides support for completing this form. If you have any questions, please contact our Membership Secretary on 01590 672677 or by email membership@rlymyc.org.uk.

  1. Who can propose or second

Candidates for Full and Overseas Membership need the support of two existing Members: a proposer and a seconder. Each of them must:

    • be a Full Member, and have been one for at least two years
    • have known the Candidate personally for at least six months

The proposer and the seconder each fill in their own form. Provisional Members don't need a proposer or seconder to join.

  2. How you know the Candidate

Tell us how you know the Candidate, and whether you work with them or are related to them, so the General Committee has the full picture.

  3. Getting to know the Candidate

Your view helps the General Committee consider the application, and helps us introduce the Candidate to the right people and activities once they join. Tell us about their interests on the water and anything else you think will be useful.

  4. Signing

Typing your full name counts as your signature. By signing, you confirm the information is correct and that you recommend the Candidate for Membership.

  5. What happens next

The form is added to the Candidate's application, which the General Committee considers once their name has been on the Club noticeboard for 28 days.
