Sailing Area

Lymington River
Convenience, character and variety - providing the perfect close-to shore sailing area for dinghies, small watercraft and paddle sports when time is limited or the conditions offshore are less favourable. Its sheltered waters are ideal for evening racing, junior training and recreation. With slipways and mooring close at hand, it's quick and easy to rig, launch and get underway.
The Lakes
Tucked just inside the mouth of the Lymington River, the tidal lakes of Oxey, Crooked and Pylewell offer a uniquely sheltered and atmospheric sailing environment. Accessible at higher states of tide, these shallow inlets are ideal for dinghies, small craft and paddling, rewarding careful navigation and an appreciation of the changing tide.
The Solent
A world-class stretch of water that delivers everything from tactical races to day sails and longer cruises. Known for its diverse conditions — wind shifts, tide strategy and changing sea states — it provides a challenging and rewarding sailing area. The Western Solent in particular is our playground for racing and training activity.
Christchurch Bay
A compelling alternative to Solent sailing, Christchurch Bay delivers excellent, varied sailing conditions. When you’re looking for clean lanes, consistent pressure or simply a change of scenery. The Club often uses the bay, enabling us to keep our programme flexible across the season.
Further Afield
For those ready to extend their cruising range, the Club’s crusing programme and Member network naturally look beyond the Solent, venturing cross-Channel, to the West Country and beyond. Regular meets let skippers and their crew cruise in company, share local knowledge and come together ashore.
