Cruising

Sail or motor, get together with like minded Members to explore The Solent and beyond.

Our cruising programme offers a varied year-round calendar of trips and social meet-ups, both locally and further afield, designed to suit a wide range of interests and experience levels. During the season this includes day cruises, weekend passages and longer adventures by sail or motor, while the winter programme features talks and informal social gatherings that keep the cruising community connected.

Monthly Day Cruises

Our popular monthly day cruises are open to all Members and welcome both sail and power boats, including RIBs. Run throughout the year and timed to suit the tides, they typically involve short coastal passages to a pub or yacht club for lunch, with most journeys taking no more than a couple of hours each way. Cruises usually begin with a skipper's briefing at the Club before departure. Members without a boat are encouraged to take part by contacting the cruise organiser, who will aim to match crew with skippers, while additional "pop-up" cruises may be arranged at short notice depending on conditions and shared via the Cruising WhatsApp group.

Cruising Awards

Each November, Members are invited to submit an account, log, or complete the Cruising Award proforma detailing their cruising activities from the season. Submissions should include a brief narrative (up to 1,000 words) covering key aspects and may be accompanied by photos, sketches or other details. Entries are used to judge the Club's Cruising Awards, with trophies awarded to yacht owners, crews, and charterers.
