420 Fleet

The 420 fleet supports sailors competing in one of the world’s premier youth double-handed classes. With strong links to the wider class association and competitive circuit, the fleet helps prepare sailors for successful campaigning within the UK and on the international stage.

Training

Training within the 420 fleet is primarily delivered through the class association, with sailors attending organised coaching clinics, training camps, and national events throughout the season. While occasional local training sessions complement this programme, the emphasis is on structured preparation, competitive event experience, and developing strong helm-and-crew partnerships. This approach enables sailors to train and compete within a committed, high-performance youth environment while benefiting from the wider expertise and opportunities offered by the class.

The 420 programme is supported by the Club’s wider youth sailing framework while encouraging sailors to take increasing ownership of their development and campaigns.
