RLymYC rally to Newtown Creek Feb 14th 2025

On February 14th 10 boats and 28 Members set off from Lymington into a steady F5-6 with wind against tide making the trip a little bumpy. We all then cruised up the narrow Newtown Creek and anchored or latched onto a mooring buoy. There was 25 knots across the deck and several vessels were not able to hook on straight away. However John Merrix in our RIB support boat ‘Hot Lemon’ was able to assist those who required it. Hot Lemon was also there to provide ferrying services to all the boats to get them onto the quay and after a stroll in blustery but sunny weather, we all ended up at the New Inn, where we had pre-ordered our food without having to pay any up front deposit. (we had assured them we would always turn up – come what may) which was good as they had brought in extra waitresses and kitchen staff, so the service ran very smoothly. After the obligatory speech of thanks by the Captain of Cruising to the staff, Steve Harridge for organising and to John Merrix for the use of Hot Lemon. We then all rolled back to the boats and set off for Lymington. Fortunately, the wind had abated and the tide turned so it was almost comfortable on the way back.
