Report on Day Cruise to Gins, 19 March 2025
40 Members and guests, aboard 5 sailing yachts, 5 motor boats and 2 cars made their way to Gins clubhouse, on what was forecast to be a sunny morning blessed with 10 knots of Easterly, sunshine and warmer temperatures than of late. In the event, the breeze was around 15 knots and the sun only put in a brief appearance, so the temperature and sailing were both brisk. Skippers’ berthing skills were tested by the unexpected presence of 3 local boats on the pontoon, but with the help of crews and the Bosun, they moored up without incident. A pleasant couple of hours were spent in the clubhouse, enjoying the views and an excellent two course lunch, before everyone headed for home. Conditions were rather easier by then, the wind and sea easing, the sun appearing from time to time. It actually felt that Spring was here at last and we could all look forward to a good Cruising season to come!
