Notes for parents and guardians

The below guidance provides support for completing this form. If you have any questions, please contact our Membership Secretary on 01590 672677 or by email membership@rlymyc.org.uk.

  1. Who can join

Junior Membership is for young people aged 8 to 17. Junior Members get Club activities and discounted coaching in the Junior and Youth fleets.

If you're applying for Membership yourself, you can include your children on the Membership Application Form instead.

  2. Parents and guardians

Give us details of one parent or guardian. We will use them to contact you about the Young Person's Membership and activities.

A parent or guardian must be a Member, or must appoint a Member to act on their behalf. If you're not a Member, tell us who has agreed to act for you.

Parents and guardians who'd like to get involved can join too, whatever their boating experience. See Membership categories and fees.

  3. Sailing and activities

    • Mariners: Seamanship, practical sailing skills and cruising-style exploration, without racing. More about Mariners.
    • Fleet racing and training: Coaching and Club racing in our Junior and Youth fleets. See the fleets.
    • RIB Club: Learning to drive and handle a RIB.
    • Youth RYA training courses: Run by our RYA Certified Training Centre.

Tell us about their experience so far, so we can help them start at the right level.

  4. Personal data

Members need to accept the Club's Privacy Statement, which is published on the Club website. In short:

    • The Club will keep and use the information you give us to run the Young Person's Membership.
    • Where appropriate, some of it may be published, as set out in the Privacy Statement.
    • You can ask for particular details, such as a home address, not to be published. We will look at each request individually.
  5. Youth and Junior Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct sets out how we expect our young sailors to behave, on and off the water. Please read it together, and tick the box to confirm you both agree to follow it.

  6. Who needs to sign

A parent or guardian signs on the Young Person's behalf. Typing your full name counts as your signature. By signing, you confirm the information is correct and agree to the data note above Note D.

  7. What happens next

The form will be sent directly to the Membership Secretary. We will be in touch to discuss next steps.
